Weaving the Gorget on the Hummers

2018/07/18

Flashy little critters. The Rufous males and especially the rarely seen Anna’s males. I have started incorporating beads on the gorgets, for the males – an all-over shine and, for the females – a spot of red on the throat patch (gorget). Developing my technique as I push my creativity, each time learning, expanding, trying new ideas.

This last one, I threaded the beads directly on the warp, before snaking my thread onto the loom. A different take on having the beads all over. Makes for a very heavy piece.
